Art & Design

New Brunswick is home to world-class artists and makers, including painters, sculptors, craftspeople, designers, illustrators, and more. The Container Village is a space for these artists to create, display, and present their work.

Here are just a few of the artists you can expect to see at the festival this year:

Quarrelsome Yeti

    Swamp Bear

      Mawi’Art Collective

        Jon Black

          Fabiola Martinez

            Cargo-Tecture

            Cargo-Tecture Event

This year, Area 506 has partnered with Canada 150 to present a special art and design event – Cargo-Tecture Design Competition.

Local architects, designers, artists, engineers, innovators and creative types are invited to submit concepts to the CARGO-TECTURE Design Competition to mark Canada’s 150 anniversary of Confederation.

Five finalists will be selected by the jury to create a full-scale prototype to be showcased at the Area 506 Festival. The public will be able to touch and see the prototypes in the Container Village and then cast a vote for their favourite design. Votes and the jury’s evaluation will determine a winner.
