SUNDAY, AUGUST 3
Best buds Ura Star & FBK have always made music for good times, kitchen parties, barn burners and foggy night drives. Refocusing indie pop through a blurry DIY lens, the two have gone from backing punk bands in Saint John, New Brunswick to forging their own path(s) as rowdy party pop boys in their adoptive city of Montréal.
Live, the lippy synth stabs so prominent in their studio production is awash in a sea of raucous guitars and shouty vocals, culminating in a great wave of celebratory energy that’s been difficult to resist for crowds all over eastern Canada. Having just wrapped up a trilogy of sanguine, upbeat records in “Emotional Bros Hotline”, “Gas Station”, and “Heartracer”, the bands work now sits in some smoking, synth-laden indie rock woodpile, recombining all the pieces to light up the corners of the backyard hangover that follows the neverending party.
