As we start dreaming up what the Village will look like in 2025, we just have to give a shoutout to the amazing artists who’ve brought so much colour to our spot here in New Brunswick.
We’re incredibly proud to have artists from all corners of the globe come to work with us — it helps put New Brunswick on the map! By blending local, national, and international talent, we’re building a place that’s as exciting for tourists as it is for our own community.
Our first artist spotlight goes to Toronto muralist Alex Currie, also known as RUNT or AL Runt, the talent behind the bold artwork on our Pop-Up Space, affectionately known as the Monster Container.
Al’s army of neon monsters and rascally creatures can be found on some of Toronto’s most recognizable spaces. For over three decades, he’s brought a surreal, colorful aesthetic inspired by Dr. Seuss, Ray Harryhausen, and King Kong to iconic spots like Lee’s Palace, and even designed a limited-edition can for Pabst Blue Ribbon. His inspiration? Al flips through free newspapers, sketching from photos to craft his signature Frankenstein-like characters.
