Our next artist spotlight goes to Fabiola Martinez, a talented Mexico City native who’s made Saint John one of her homes.
We’ve been lucky to collaborate with Fabiola on several projects, including bringing our food truck area to life and creating the “Alice In Aurorborealand” mural in partnership with French artist oakoak, which you can spot on the back of our merch container. Fabiola is also the creative force behind the annual Dia de los Muertos celebration in Saint John, which we were thrilled to host at the end of October!
Fabiola’s work has been showcased in art centers, galleries, and universities across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Vancouver, as well as at venues like the Lancaster Museum of Art and History in California, the New Brunswick Museum — Musée du Nouveau-Brunswick, and Lotton Gallery in Chicago. In Mexico, her art has also been featured at the Cineteatro Rosalío Solano.
A big thank you to the Arts and Culture Branch of the Government of New Brunswick, through the Artist in Schools Program, for giving 50 students from Rothesay High School the opportunity to assist Fabiola with “Creating New Forms”. We’d also like to thank the students from KVHS for their contributions, and the students from De las Artes School of Arts, who are always ready to help.
